SUSPIRIA stars Jessica Harper as Suzy Banyon, a young American ballet dancer who arrives at a prestigious European dance academy run by the mysterious Madame Blanc (Joan Bennett) and Miss Tanner (Alida Valli). But when a series of bizarre incidents and horrific crimes turn the school into a waking nightmare of the damned, Suzy must escape the academy's unspeakable secret of supernatural evil.
In TENEBRAE, American mystery novelist Peter Neal (Anthony Franciosa) travels to Rome to promote his latest release, Tenebrae. Soon after his arrival, a bizarre sequence of shocking homicides occurs resembling the murders in his book, and he himself becomes the subject of horrifying death threats. With the police stunned and confused, Neal decides to take charge of his own investigation.
Argento pays homage to The Phantom Of The Opera in TERROR AT THE OPERA, in which a sadistic hooded killer torments an opera diva with whom he has become obsessed by forcing her to witness his brutal murders of those closest to her.
THE STENDHAL SYNDROME stars Asia Argento as a policewoman on the trail of a savagely vicious serial rapist and killer who has been terrorizing Italy. Anna has a secret: she suffers from the Stendhal Syndrome, a mental condition which makes her retreat into frightening hallucinations when confronted with works of art. When her quarry (Thomas Kretschmann) discovers her condition, he uses it against her, making her a helpless witness to his ongoing murder spree.
THE CARD PLAYER concerns a serial killer who modus operandi is to kidnap women and use them as the stake in a series of deadly games of poker played with the police over the internet. If the police win, the victim is set free; if they lose, the victim dies and they are rewarded with a gruesome video of the murder. The police investigation takes a bizarre turn, with the stakes raised even higher, when the police chief's own daughter is abducted. The six disc THE DARIO ARGENTO COLLECTION (cert. 18) will be released on DVD (£29.99) by Anchor Bay UK on 2nd October 2006.
